All of the full-time Emergency Room nurses on staff at Summit Medical Center have now completed Trauma Training. The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a 16-hour, two-day course designed to provide core-level trauma knowledge and psychomotor skills associated with the delivery of professional nursing care to the trauma patient. The training is intended to enhance cognitive skills, to sharpen technical skills, and to provide a foundation for future learning. The ultimate purpose is to improve the level of care provided in emergency care settings, large and small, rural and urban. “It is not always a requirement at other hospitals for ER nurses to complete this training but we strive to have the most qualified and best trained staff in the area and the trauma training adds to the current knowledge and skills of our nursing staff,” said Jacque Sullins, Chief Nursing Office of Summit Medical Center.
